kato09 A very interesting album from the point of view of what the author wants to tell us (by the writing that accompanies the disc).
I honestly did not know about Radionics, but thanks to this album I have discovered something new.
I was also surprised by the instruments used in this album, surprising... Favorite track: Remote Healing.

PadraigC Great album, I instantly liked
and enjoyed it upon first listen.
For some reason I found it scary in places! After further listens,
I got lots of flashbacks of alt. & medical health memories as well as more 'arcane' experiences!!
The release notes are very interesting & informative.

A real powerful album! Favorite track: Remote Healing.

about

The Occult Electronics Institute has been researching radionics for over two decades in attempts to integrate the production of sound into the practice, with the ultimate goal to record the sound of a radionics session. After becoming familiar with different devices and the many applications of radionics, there always seemed to be something missing…sound. This fascination began when noticing the design of many radionics machines have dials, touch plates, input and/or output jacks, and other features that also appear on various electronic musical hardware and synthesizers. Constantly searching for the right instruments with this concept in mind, not only were we excited about the prospect of one day hearing what a radionics session might sound like, but we also theorized that the sound frequencies might amplify the process.

While not the first to explore the realm of radionics and sound, none have attempted it in quite the same way as The Occult Electronics Institute. In the 1960's, Delawarr Laboratories built the Multi-Oscillator instrument which claimed to not only tune into the frequency of physical and mental conditions, but could also turn thoughts into sound. Very few machines or practices have further explored this concept. Later in 2014, a UK musician, Daniel Wilson, recreated a stripped-down app version of the Delawarr machine, so that users could submit their "thoughts" to his project by typing in keywords and using their computer mouse or laptop touchpad to tune into their thought's audio frequency. The artist then collected these frequencies and assigned them to octaves, pitches, and scales, or treated each thought as a key, to create musical compositions. While this was indeed an amazing experiment, and the album turned out to be quite an enjoyable listen, the result was a musical piece that incorporated many concepts of radionics. In contrast, The Occult Electronics Institute was not setting out to make a musical album, but rather capture the raw sound of a radionics session. Despite Wilson being a self-proclaimed skeptic, the project showed the artist's fascination with the topic and introduced radionics to a new demographic. There are only a handful of other modern musicians who have incorporated some inspiration or aspects of radionics into their work, but all are keeping this fringe topic alive in their own way.

For those unfamiliar, let’s examine a brief overview of radionics. The concept originated in the early 1900’s with Albert Abrams who claimed he could detect energy frequencies in his patient's bodies. The idea was that a healthy person will have certain energy frequencies moving through their body that define health, while an unhealthy person will exhibit other, different energy frequencies that define disorders. He developed thirteen radionic devices, which he claimed could diagnose and cure people by balancing their frequencies, and became a millionaire leasing them. Abrams and his colleagues believed their discoveries could be explained as phenomena of electrically-measurable radiation, or an imbalance of electrons in the cellular atoms is the cause of the disease. The term radionics was then invented by students of Abrams, by combining the two words radiation and electronics. This implies that in radionics it is possible to measure a fine radiation with electronic instruments designed specifically for the purpose. While some of Abrams’ intentions for wealth could be considered questionable, later practitioners would take the concepts and devices associated with early radionics and develop new machines and techniques for remote healing, homeopathy, and other metaphysical applications.

Ruth Drown, one of Abrams’ students, was reportedly the first to apply the concept of using a radionic instrument to detect human life force or vibration radiation, not only for diagnosis, but also for therapy. She employed units of measurement for electrical resistance (ohms), after the numerical values, and called them rates. She discovered that this therapy also operated over distance, if a blood specimen of the patient was laid on the instrument. Her explanation was that the rates exert a background presence in the atmosphere that can be received by a person. The setting of a rate on the instrument would set up a resonance in relation to this rate between the instrument and the patient, thus increasing the person’s receptiveness. She called this process “broadcasting”, a likely reference to the radio technology that was emerging at the time. This concept could imply that all living things have defined vibrational frequencies.

Other inventors would soon follow with patented devices. In 1949, an electrical engineer, Thomas Galen, received a U.S. Patent for his Hieronymus Machine, which was described as a device for "detection of emanations from materials and measurement of the volumes thereof”. in 1956, Galen published a number of articles detailing the machine’s construction and usage. It was at this time, while testing the device with a volunteer, that he made an accidental discovery. The Hieronymus Machine appeared to work perfectly fine even though he’d forgotten to plug it into a power outlet. In repeated tests with no power, he found that some operators were still able to correctly identify the mineral composition of unknown samples that were placed by the device, hence the instrument eventually being referred to as the Symbolic Hieronymus Machine.

A notable figure in modern radionics is Charles Cosimano, also known as “Uncle Chuckie”, who became known for his works in psionics. Psionics is the art of manipulating psychic abilities by means of physical instruments, or gathering information and then manipulating that information to bring about results. Up to this point, many developers had been making large machines with lots of dials, lights, and amplifiers that could cost up to several thousand dollars. By the 1970’s, Charles would change the landscape of radionics by inspiring users to make their own inexpensive instruments, often out of easy to find household objects. Based on the titles of some of his books, it is easy to see that Charles Cosimano is a controversial figure who doesn’t shy away from providing techniques and instructions that empower practitioners to embark on anything they desire.
According to Cosimano, there are three basic principles of psionics:
1. If it exists it can be known.
2. If it is known it can be studied.
3. If it can be studied it can be manipulated.
Similar to Ruth Drown, Cosimano used radionic devices to lock onto a target by determining a contact rate for the subject which he described like “an open telephone line to the person”. After hooking up your gear, you then “visualize either the result you want or send the message you want the subject to receive”.

One unique device produced in the current century is the Earth Wave Manifester by Digital Dowsing. It is an easy-to-use machine that can be quickly programmed with the user’s target and intent. Its small size allows for versatility and radionics experiments on the go. The Earth Wave Manifester creates square and saw waves from pure DC. It runs constantly at 7.8 Hz to promote harmony with the user's natural surroundings. The intent/target is broadcast via a paired set of coils. The device will re-broadcast the intent/target and the earth wave as long as the unit is left on or until the user chooses to change it.

The many unique terms applied to radionics machines can be daunting for new practitioners. A witness well is an area on some devices where a photograph or similar object of the subject can be placed to focus on the target, even if the target is hundreds or thousands of miles away. The witness well area can also be labelled as the “target”. The intent is just that, your intentions can be as simple as a piece of paper containing the written objective, which is then placed on the intent or “trend” area of the device. Then, dowsing methods and stick pads are often used to fine tune dials on the machine until the target’s frequency or “rate” is determined.

The stick pad within a modern radionics machine is usually a copper plate linked directly to the core of the manifest generator and the rate circuit. By rubbing a finger or thumb over the stick plate, tuning a dial, and waiting to feel the response, the practitioner can stop when finely tuned into the frequency wishing to be obtained. The reaction or “stick” manifests uniquely for each user. For some it will appear as if their finger is getting heavier, for others it will manifest as a sticky finger and your finger will be pulled to a stop due to friction.

Today, practitioners may use a variety of machines and devices to broadcast vibrations at the target or patient in an attempt to remote view, heal, or protect them. Additional tools such as dowsing rods, pendulums, and crystals can be used in tandem with these devices to help with tuning and amplification. Some modern practitioners conceptualize these devices merely as a focusing aid to the user's proclaimed dowsing abilities and claim that there is no longer any need for the device to have any demonstrable function.

Contemporary proponents of radionics, electromagnetic therapy, or magnetic resonance therapy, still claim that imbalances of electromagnetic fields or frequencies within the body can cause disease and other illnesses by disrupting the body's chemical makeup. They believe that applications of electromagnetic energy from outside the body can correct these imbalances. Other practitioners claim to have the paranormal or parapsychological ability to detect radiation within the human body, which they call radiesthesia. According to the theory, all human bodies give off unique or characteristic radiations as do all other physical bodies or objects. Such radiations are often termed an aura. Radiesthesia is cited as the explanation of such phenomena as dowsing by rods and pendulums in order to locate buried substances, diagnose illnesses, and the like. This practice has been described as a mixture of occultism and pseudoscience by critics.

Now that you know the basic concepts and history of radionics, let’s further explain this audio project. Several years ago, the work of one modern synthesizer builder caught our eye. Resonance Circuits was developing one of a kind (or small batches of) bespoke musical instruments that often resembled metaphysical objects. Some of these designs ranged from circuit bent Ouija boards to yes, even radionics machines. “Disturbia” was the first instrument we had seen to date that not only had similar components of many modern radionics machines, but also produced sound. After decades of research and experimentation, there was finally a hope that we may one day hear the sound of a radionics session! Once familiar with the device, it was apparent that it could indeed be easily used as a radionics machine as well as a musical instrument. With the more recent production of the “Empathy Generator”, which resembles some of the more high-end radionics machines, we knew our dream could finally be realized. While we have experimented with several of Resonance Circuits’ machines, we kept this project to only the “Disturbia” and “Empathy Generator” as they are the ones that could easily be used for radionics based on their designs. A few additional tools and instruments were used to complete and record the experience. The final result should not be viewed as a musical album per se, but rather the sound of a metaphysical practice. For a full list of both the metaphysical and musical instruments used, please refer to the list below.

We understand this may be a lot of information to digest, but it is just the beginning. Each track listing will contain information explaining the experiment conducted on that track. To dive deeper into the rabbit hole of radionics, every digital download of “The Sound of Radionics“ will come with loads of bonus content including manuscripts and books written by leaders in the field, pictures of instruments used in this project, charts, schematics, ideas to build your own radionics machines, and much much more!

Please understand that DMP and The Occult Electronics Institute only intend on sharing the sounds of these experiments with you and shine some light on a lesser known, but fascinating topic. We in no way claim results that some radionics users have reported.
